What is Jail-N-Bail?
Jail-n-Bail involves mock arrests of willing participants who are taken to “jail” where a judge hears imaginative charges leveled against them. Jailbirds – who are always found guilty – must raise enough money by calling friends, family members and co-workers to make bail in order to win their freedom back. (Prearranged)
Alternatively, one can purchase a “warrant” for an “arrest” of their willing friend or family member and they will spend a maximum of 15 minutes in “jail” to support the work of the Windermere Valley Youth Centre Society and Summit Youth Centre.
To kick start the event we receive a matching donation of $5,000 in support of this event each year.
We are very proud of our growth over the past couple of years. We have had an increasing number of youth utilizing the Centre and now have over 300 youth registered in our program.
How can you get involved?
If you choose to accept this challenge, your job will be to collect pledges for your bail by the time of your sentence. We will provide you with a package containing pledge sheets, a form letter for requesting donations, and a person to call for questions and support. Pledges can be made by cash, cheque, or online via a link provided. We can also accept credit card donations on the day of the event. All funds raised will go directly to the Summit Youth Centre. The Centre has been providing a safe and supervised space for youth for 25 years. This event helps us keep our doors open.
